Authenticated command execution via unsafe AMI Originate
Published Aug 8, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Access control in Asterisk and Certified Asterisk allows remote authenticated users with AMI Originate rights to execute commands. Manager action validation permits SET with FILE or CURL and configuration reloads without SYSTEM rights, enabling writes to Asterisk configuration files and execution of an injected dialplan. The path requires an AMI account with write=originate and affects Asterisk before 18.24.2, 20.9.2, or 21.4.2 and Certified Asterisk before 18.9-cert11 or 20.7-cert2.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
