CVE-2024-4229

Local code execution via writable installation folder

Published Dec 19, 2024 · Updated Dec 19, 2024

Incorrect default permissions in Edgecross Basic Software for Windows and for Developers 1.00 and later allow local users to execute code. The installer permits a destination whose modification rights are not restricted to administrators, so local users can place malicious code where product components execute it. Exploitation requires low-privilege local access and a nondefault, user-writable installation path, and can disclose, alter, or delete data or interrupt service.
