CVE-2024-42278

Kernel crash via reversed calibration null check

Published Aug 17, 2024 · Updated May 23, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in the Linux TAS2781 ASoC codec driver allows local users to crash the kernel during calibration loading. tasdev_load_calibrated_data returns when its calibration pointer is valid but passes a missing object to load_calib_data for dereference. Reachability requires the TAS2781 codec driver and a calibration path with no calibration object; the bounded consequence is a kernel crash.
