CVE-2024-4227Network attack vector

CPU exhaustion via duplicate XML ID attributes

Published Jan 15, 2025 · Updated Jan 15, 2025

Excessive iteration in Genivia gSOAP 2.8.24 through 2.8.132 allows remote attackers to exhaust CPU via duplicate XML ID attributes. The CNA attributes the load to excessive iteration while parsing duplicate IDs; Genivia instead identifies undefined behavior when generated C++11 DOM catch-all code returns a validation error. Reachability requires wsdl2h or soapcpp2 generation with a C++11 option and -d plus further compile-time and runtime conditions, and Genivia disputes that the path consumes CPU.
