CVE-2024-4224Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated administrator-browser script execution via unencoded system name

Published Jul 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Stored XSS in TP-Link TL-SG1016DE V7.6_1.0.0 Build 20230616 allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript in an administrator's browser. The management interface's /system_name_set.cgi endpoint accepts sysName through an HTTP GET request, stores it as the device name, and renders it without HTML-entity encoding. An authenticated user must set the name and an administrator must load it; the injected script executes in that administrator's browser.
