CVE-2024-42219

Vault secret theft via XPC client impersonation

Published Aug 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 12, 2024

Improper XPC client validation in 1Password 8 for Mac before 8.10.36 allows local users to exfiltrate vault items and sign-in secrets. Missing macOS-specific checks let a malicious process impersonate a trusted browser-extension or CLI client and request protected data. Malicious code must run on an authenticated Mac; successful exploitation exposes vault items, the account unlock key, and SRP-x.
