Local file disclosure via file URI downloads
Published Jan 23, 2025 · Updated Jan 23, 2025
Insecure URI handling in HCL BigFix Patch Management Download Plug-ins 1177 and earlier allows local users to read local files. The plug-in download handler accepts file:// URIs as patch sources, causing a requested retrieval to resolve to a path on the local filesystem. Exploitation requires malicious operator access, high-complexity conditions, and user interaction; the documented consequence is limited local-file disclosure.
