Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode settings
Published Jul 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Shortcodes Ultimate Pro before 7.1.5 allows remote authenticated users to inject script via shortcode settings. The icon_panel shortcode places its url setting into rendered markup without adequate output escaping; the same defect affects eleven other listed shortcodes. Contributor access is required to save the crafted shortcode, and the script runs when another user views the stored content, permitting actions in that viewer's browser context.
