Kernel memory corruption via unchecked patch length

Improper input validation in Linux ALSA emux allows local users to read or corrupt kernel memory and crash the system through patch loading. The load_guspatch() path trusts patch.len without confirming that the caller supplied that many bytes, while load_data() inconsistently validates and skips the main information block. Exploitation requires local access to an emux hardware-dependent or MIDI sequencer device; malformed lengths can drive out-of-bounds operations and a kernel crash.
