Local memory disclosure and crash via stack cpumask
Published Jul 29, 2024 · Updated May 12, 2026
Stack overflow in the Linux kernel net/iucv subsystem allows local users to disclose kernel memory or crash CONFIG_CPUMASK_OFFSTACK builds. The IUCV code declares an explicit cpumask variable on the kernel stack instead of using the configuration-neutral cpumask_var allocation API. Exploitation requires local access and a kernel built with CONFIG_CPUMASK_OFFSTACK; impact is limited to confidentiality and service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
