CVE-2024-42092

System interruption via unvalidated Device Tree IRQ count

Published Jul 29, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in the Linux kernel's DaVinci GPIO driver allows local users to interrupt systems through a malformed Device Tree. davinci_gpio_probe() accepts pdata->gpio_unbanked as an IRQ count and indexes chips->irqs without ensuring that it stays within the maximum IRQs per bank. Local access and a malformed DaVinci Device Tree are required; the demonstrated fault is out-of-bounds kernel access with availability impact.
