CVE-2024-42059Network attack vector

Administrator command execution via crafted language archive

Published Sep 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 3, 2024

OS command injection in Zyxel firewall firmware 5.00 through 5.38 allows remote authenticated users to execute OS commands via FTP. The compressed language-file import path fails to neutralize attacker-controlled archive data before using it in an operating system command. Administrator credentials and FTP access are required; successful exploitation runs commands with the appliance firmware's privileges.
