Unauthenticated command execution via crafted IPSec username
Published Sep 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 3, 2024
OS command injection in Zyxel firewall firmware through 5.38 allows remote attackers to execute OS commands via a crafted IPSec username. The IPSec VPN feature passes attacker-controlled username content into an OS command without adequately neutralizing command syntax. Exploitation is unauthenticated but requires User-Based-PSK mode and an existing user whose username exceeds 28 characters, enabling command execution on the firewall.
