SYSTEM code execution via writable installer registry file
Published Jul 28, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Privilege escalation in Splashtop Streamer for Windows before 3.6.2.0 allows local users to execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM. During MSI repair, the installer imports InstRegExp.reg from a user-writable temporary directory with SYSTEM privileges, enabling attacker-controlled registry writes. Exploitation requires a reusable installer source and low-privileged local access; an IFEO Debugger entry redirects a SYSTEM process to an arbitrary executable.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
