Private-channel metadata disclosure via missing membership check
Published Nov 9, 2024 · Updated Nov 12, 2024
Incorrect authorization in affected Mattermost releases allows remote authenticated users to read private-channel details through the channels API. The /api/v4/channels handler returns details for private channels without enforcing the requesting account's channel membership. Reachability requires a User or System Manager role with Read Groups permission; the reported consequence is limited to disclosure of channel details.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
