Physical privilege escalation via active debug function
Published Sep 30, 2024 · Updated Sep 30, 2024
Active debug code in Smart-tab Android app installed April 2023 or earlier allows physically proximate attackers to gain OS privileges. The app leaves a debug function enabled after deployment, exposing OS functions that should not be available from the guest-room interface. Physical access to a guest-room tablet is required; successful use grants OS access, permits settings changes, and enables device spoofing in other rooms.
