Service interruption via Unicode URL recognition ReDoS
Published Aug 7, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
ReDoS in Django 4.2 before 4.2.15 and 5.0 before 5.0.8 allows remote attackers to hang web workers via crafted Unicode URLs. The urlize and urlizetrunc filters apply URL and email regular expressions without adequate length bounds, while AdminURLFieldWidget quotes a supplied URL before rejecting it as invalid. An application must render attacker-controlled text through either filter or process a supplied admin URL field; repeated requests can consume CPU and interrupt service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
