Authenticated code execution via unsandboxed Jinja2 templates
Published Jul 31, 2024 · Updated Jul 31, 2024
Template injection in deepset Haystack before 2.3.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through crafted pipeline templates. Prompt builders, OutputAdapter, ConditionalRouter, and PipelineTemplate render attacker-created Jinja2 strings with ordinary Template or NativeEnvironment objects instead of a sandbox. Exploitation requires an application to let a user create and run affected pipeline components, after which code executes in the hosting process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
