Phishing redirects via unrestricted custom URL handling
Published Aug 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 29, 2024
Improper authorization in Rakuten Ichiba App 12.4.0 and earlier on Android and 11.7.0 and earlier on iOS allows remote phishing redirects. The custom URL scheme handler accepts an unrestricted requested URL from an Intent and loads the arbitrary site in the app's WebView. The attack requires user interaction and an Intent from another installed application; successful redirection presents unauthorized content and supports phishing.
