CVE-2024-41889Network attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via unintended WebSocket connections

Published Aug 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 7, 2024

Improper WebSocket endpoint restriction in Pimax Play before 1.21.01 and all PiTool versions allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. The software accepts WebSocket sessions from endpoints it does not verify as intended, granting the connecting endpoint the intended client's access. The connection requires no authentication; JPCERT reports user interaction as required, while the listening port, endpoint path, and triggering message remain undisclosed.
