Authenticated file overwrite via log path traversal
Published Dec 24, 2024 · Updated Oct 1, 2025
Path traversal in Hanwha Vision XRN-420S 5.01.62 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to overwrite files through log generation. The NVR's log generation feature accepts a path that resolves one directory above the configured log directory, allowing a log file to overwrite or corrupt a file there. Administrator authentication is required, and the path cannot be redirected beyond that single parent directory, bounding the impact to files at that location.
