CVE-2024-41885

Firmware decryption via hard-coded encryption seed

Published Dec 24, 2024 · Updated Oct 1, 2025

Use of a hard-coded encryption seed in Hanwha Vision XRN-420S 5.01.62 and earlier allows local users to reproduce the firmware decryption key. The firmware encryption design derives its decryption key from a fixed seed string rather than a device-unique secret. Exploitation requires high privileges, access to encrypted firmware, and difficult reverse engineering; published technical evidence supports firmware decryption, not remote code execution.
