Admin-triggered NVR reboot via oversized URL parameters
Published Dec 24, 2024 · Updated Oct 1, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Hanwha Vision XRN-420S 5.01.62 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to reboot the NVR. The NVR's URL-parameter handling accepts oversized data and overflows a stack buffer, forcing the recorder to restart. High-privilege access is required, and the documented consequence is repeatable loss of availability rather than demonstrated code execution.
