Service hang via unbounded currency regex
Published Jul 29, 2024 · Updated Oct 11, 2024
ReDoS in the v5 currency parser in Natural Intelligence fast-xml-parser 4.3.5 through 4.4.0 allows remote attackers to cause a service hang. CurrencyParser.parse applies an ambiguous anchored regular expression to arbitrary-length strings; long whitespace followed by a period causes excessive backtracking. Exposure requires an application to use the experimental v5 currency value parser on attacker-controlled XML, and CPU exhaustion interrupts that application's service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
