CVE-2024-41798Network attack vector

Administrative access via weak cleartext PIN

Published Oct 8, 2024 · Updated Oct 8, 2024

Improper authentication in Siemens SENTRON 7KM PAC3200 all versions allows remote attackers to gain administrative access via Modbus TCP. The device protects administrative Modbus TCP operations with only a four-digit PIN and transmits that PIN in cleartext, enabling exhaustive guessing or network capture. Access to the Modbus TCP interface is required; a recovered PIN grants the administrative access that the PIN is intended to restrict.
