Stored XSS via unescaped field labels
Published Jul 22, 2024 · Updated Mar 21, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in Backdrop CMS before 1.27.3 and 1.28.0 through 1.28.1 allows remote authenticated users to run script in browsers. The Views field metadata builder and selection UI insert field labels without server-side check_plain encoding or client-side Backdrop.checkPlain encoding. A role with administer fields permission can store a crafted label; a separate user must view an affected Views interface, exposing that user's page data and actions to script.
