CVE-2024-41704Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Cross-user image disclosure via unnormalized path check

Published Jul 22, 2024 · Updated Aug 22, 2024

Path traversal in LibreChat 0.7.4-rc1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read other users' uploaded images. The validateImageRequest middleware checks that the raw image path contains the requester's user ID but does not normalize it before authorization. A signed, unexpired session and a known image URL are required; a ../ segment preserves the requester's ID in the check while resolving to another user's file.
