CVE-2024-41660Network attack vector

Remote code execution via unchecked SLP lengths

Published Jul 31, 2024 · Updated Jul 31, 2024

Buffer overflow in OpenBMC slpd-lite all versions allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted SLP packets. The SLP header, service-type, and service-request parsers trust attacker-controlled length fields when copying or advancing through packet buffers without first proving that the referenced bytes remain inside the received datagram. Network access to UDP port 427 is sufficient; successful corruption grants code execution on the BMC and can interrupt its management service.
