Remote code execution via callback use-after-free
Published Dec 6, 2024 · Updated Dec 11, 2024
Use-after-free in Open Robotics ROS 2 Navigation2 Humble and Iron allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through parameter updates. During AMCL cleanup, dyn_param_handler_ is reset without stopping its callback thread, which then accesses resources already released by on_cleanup(). A parameter update must overlap node cleanup; the published reproduction demonstrates a crash, while the CVE record attributes arbitrary code execution.
