Code execution via unvalidated updater replacement
Published Sep 26, 2024 · Updated Sep 27, 2024
Side-loading in Foxit PDF Editor before 2024.3 and 13.x before 13.1.4 allows local users to execute attacker-controlled code. The update service launches a replaceable updater without validating its integrity, so a Trojan horse is accepted as the update file. A local user must replace the update file before the service launches it; execution is limited to the service's security context.
