Single-query panic via unchecked schema indexing
Published Sep 3, 2024 · Updated Oct 1, 2024
Bounds-checking failure in PingCAP TiDB Server 8.1.0 allows remote attackers to trigger a query panic with crafted SQL input. ExplainExpressionList iterates over expressions and indexes the corresponding schema column without confirming that the column exists. The complex SQL sequence is required, and PingCAP states that the failure remains confined to the query rather than interrupting service for other users.
