Administrator password change via forged POST request
Published Oct 15, 2024 · Updated Oct 15, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in CodeIgniter 3.1.13 allows remote authenticated users to change an administrator password via a forged POST. The application-specific /admin/changePass route accepts a new_pass value from a session-backed POST without a demonstrated anti-CSRF check. The published proof of concept first stores a script in a product name, and the password changes only when an authenticated administrator reviews that product.
