Arbitrary code execution via unverified APP updates
Published Feb 27, 2025 · Updated Jul 8, 2026
Improper certificate validation in DrayTek Vigor router firmware allows attackers to execute arbitrary code through APP Enforcement updates. The APP Enforcement updater accepts downloads from nonofficial servers without validating their TLS certificates, then installs supplied APPE signatures as kernel modules. Exploitation requires control or interception of the signature-update connection; successful delivery runs attacker-controlled code in the router kernel.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
