Account impersonation via credential-bearing cookies
Published Oct 2, 2024 · Updated Oct 2, 2024
Cleartext cookie storage in FlatPress 1.3 through 1.3.1 allows attackers to recover reusable administrator authentication data. The login path writes the administrator username and password hash into client-side fp-user and fp-pass cookies instead of retaining authentication state server-side. Access to those cookies is required; their contents support offline password cracking or account impersonation without interrupting the service.
