Account data manipulation via MD5 Gravatar hashes
Published Aug 1, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper cryptography in Navidrome 0.52.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to manipulate account information through Gravatar URLs. The Gravatar integration hashes each user's email address with MD5 and embeds the digest in the avatar URL rather than using SHA-256. Exploitation requires an attacker-controlled email producing the relevant digest; the disclosure presents no demonstrated collision or broader account-takeover path.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
