Information disclosure via disabled SSH host verification
Published Jul 31, 2024 · Updated Mar 13, 2025
Improper SSH host-key verification in Filestash 0.4 and earlier allows man-in-the-middle attackers to read sensitive Git data. The Git backend's auth method assigns ssh.InsecureIgnoreHostKey() as the HostKeyCallback for private-key and password authentication, accepting any presented SSH host key. Exploitation requires a user to initiate an SSH Git connection across an attacker-controlled network path, enabling impersonation of the repository host and disclosure of exchanged repository data.
