CVE-2024-41254Network attack vector

Database disclosure via unchecked SFTP host keys

Published Jul 31, 2024 · Updated Oct 29, 2024

Information disclosure in Litestream 0.3.13 and earlier allows man-in-the-middle attackers to read SFTP-replicated database data. ReplicaClient.Init assigns ssh.InsecureIgnoreHostKey() as the SFTP client's HostKeyCallback, accepting every presented SSH host key without verifying server identity. An SFTP replica and attacker control of the connection path or destination are required; confidentiality is the bounded impact.
