Code execution via MOV parser heap overflow
Published Nov 14, 2024 · Updated Nov 15, 2024
Heap-based buffer overflow in justdan96 tsMuxer nightly-2024-03-14-01-51-12 allows context-dependent attackers to execute code via a crafted MOV file. The MOV demuxer over-parses a user-sized stsd atom and leaves ctts_count stale after resizing ctts_data, so a later mov_read_trun writes beyond the vector. A user must open or process the file; the overwrite can crash the process or corrupt heap memory for code execution.
