CVE-2024-41175

Local service interruption via crafted web posts

Published Aug 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2024

Resource exhaustion in Beckhoff IPC Diagnostics before 2.0.0.1 and TwinCAT/BSD before 14.1.2.0 allows local users to interrupt service. The Beckhoff Device Manager UI passes crafted posted content to MDPWebServer without limiting resource consumption, causing the process to consume maximum CPU cycles and RAM. Exploitation requires a low-privileged account with local login permission; default lower-privileged accounts lack passwords and cannot log in.
