CVE-2024-41173

Administrative access via loopback authentication bypass

Published Aug 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2024

Authentication bypass in IPC Diagnostics before 2.0.0.1 on TwinCAT/BSD before 14.1.2.0 allows local users to gain administrative access. Internal Device Manager services on the loopback interface execute administrative HTTP requests without rechecking the Authelia decision enforced by Nginx on external requests. A valid low-privilege account and local SSH access are required; successful exploitation permits deletion and recreation of the Administrator account, enabling PLC reprogramming.
