CVE-2024-41148

Arbitrary code execution via unsanitized filter evaluation

Published Jul 17, 2025 · Updated Jul 18, 2025

Code injection in Robot Operating System (ROS) Noetic Ninjemys and earlier allows local users to execute code through rostopic hz. The hz verb passes the --filter Python expression directly to eval() without sanitizing or restricting the expression. Execution requires a user to invoke rostopic hz with an attacker-controlled filter; successful exploitation runs with that process's privileges.
