CVE-2024-41131Network attack vector

Application crash via unchecked GIF LZW code size

Published Jul 22, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Out-of-bounds write in the ImageSharp GIF decoder before 2.1.9 and 3.0.0 through 3.1.4 allows remote attackers to crash applications. LzwDecoder accepts a GIF LZW minimum code size above the 12-bit format limit and derives oversized codes that exceed its fixed decoding tables. Exploitation requires a consuming application to decode an attacker-supplied GIF; the documented consequence is a process crash and service interruption.
