Service interruption via unchecked mode duplication failure

NULL pointer dereference in affected Linux kernels allows local users to interrupt service through the Nouveau display driver. The nv17_tv_get_ld_modes function dereferences a mode after drm_mode_duplicate returns NULL because the result is not validated. An affected Nouveau NV17 TV-output path and local low-privileged access are required; the resulting kernel oops can halt or reboot systems configured to panic on oops.
