Kernel memory disclosure via unterminated DMI quirk table
Published Jul 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in the Linux toshiba_acpi driver allows local users to disclose kernel memory or crash the system during quirk matching. The toshiba_dmi_quirks array lacks the empty sentinel required by standard DMI matching, so iteration reads beyond the table and can dereference invalid kernel data. Reachability requires the driver to process its DMI quirk list; the bounded impacts are kernel-memory disclosure and a kernel fault or boot failure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
