Local crash via unset OCFS2 buffer association
Published Jul 12, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel 6.6 before 6.6.36, 6.7 through 6.9.6, and 6.10-rc1 through 6.10-rc4 allows local users to crash systems. OCFS2 leaves bh->b_assoc_map unset, so ocfs2_abort_trigger() follows b_assoc_map->host->i_sb and dereferences a NULL pointer. Triggering the fault requires local access to an OCFS2 filesystem and journal error handling; the bounded consequence is a kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
