Service interruption via released firmware token dereference
Published Jul 12, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel bnxt_en driver allows local users to interrupt service through firmware messaging. In __hwrm_send(), a deferred HWRM token is released and set to NULL, but error logging dereferences it when firmware omits HWRM_ERR_CODE_PF_UNAVAILABLE. The path requires a Broadcom bnxt_en device and firmware with that response behavior; the resulting kernel fault affects availability only.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
