Root command execution via unsanitized network parameters
Published Aug 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 21, 2024
OS command injection in Firewalla Box Software before 1.979 allows physically proximate attackers to execute commands through authenticated BTLE. The firereset network configuration service passes PingTestIP, DNSTestDomain, and Gateway6 values containing shell metacharacters into recurring system-shell health checks without sanitization. A valid license UUID and BTLE proximity are required; injected commands run with passwordless sudo, can open a root reverse shell, and persist through cloud-synced configuration.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
