CVE-2024-40892Public exploit

Persistent SSH access via reusable license UUID

Published Aug 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 21, 2024

Weak credentials in Firewalla Box Software before 1.979 allow physically proximate attackers to provision SSH credentials over BTLE. The firereset credential service accepts the immutable license UUID as its primary authenticator, while paired apps transmit that UUID in plaintext and an unauthenticated response reduces its search space. The service appears during setup or WAN disruption; after provisioning credentials and joining the LAN, attackers gain persistent SSH access.
