Wi-Fi password disclosure via cleartext installation traffic
Published Jul 9, 2024 · Updated Nov 22, 2024
Cleartext transmission in Linksys Velop Pro 6E 1.0.8 and Velop Pro 7 1.0.10 allows attackers to intercept Wi-Fi passwords. During mobile-app installation, the router sends the Wi-Fi password through the WAN/ISP path without transport encryption. Reproduction requires mobile-app setup, physical wired router access, specialized tools, and visibility and permission across ISP infrastructure; browser-based setup is unaffected.
