CVE-2024-40726Network attack vector

Stored XSS via unescaped object names

Published Jul 9, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Stored XSS in NetBox 4.0.3 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in another user's browser through a crafted object name. The Name value reaches UI rendering where affected object representations are marked safe without HTML escaping. The attacker needs permission to edit the field, and a victim must view a page that renders the object name, exposing that browser session to script execution.
